The successful candidate will perform administrative and supervisory work in planning, directing, and coordinating the County's Emergency Medical Services Office, Patient Accounts, and Medical Records Section. Duties include, but are not limited to, acting as the HIPAA compliance officer for the Public Safety Department, including Emergency Medical Services, Fire Rescue Division, and any and all municipalities that provide response and medical treatment, interpreting county policies and procedures, supporting and working with internal and external (Federal, State, County and private sector) staff with regard to billing procedures, compliance plans, medical records, federal and state guidelines governing Medicare, Medicaid, Worker's Compensation, private insurance, and health maintenance organizations as it relates to EMS. Other duties include providing administrative assistance and support to the Chief of Emergency Medical Services as required by the Chief, assuming responsibility for planning, training, and supervising personnel in the performance of preparing, handling, and billing of patient accounts and records and performing other related duties.

Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited four (4) year college or university and have a minimum of three (3) years documented supervisory experience in the medical records field work overseeing the work of others. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment. A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. EMS medical records experience and National Academy of Ambulance Coding (NAAC) certification preferred. NAAC certification must be achieved within 6 months of start of employment in this classification.
