Profile:
Florida Hospital EMS is a hospital-intra-facility advance life support ambulance service providing emergent and non-emergent transportation for Florida Hospital patients at the seven campuses within the tri-county area. The EMS division operates thirteen advance life support ambulances, two basic life support ambulances. The system will respond to over 23,000 requests in annually. Florida Hospital Emergency Medical Services' mission is to ensure continuity of patient care by providing the highest level of ALS/BLS care for patients requiring transportation within the Florida Hospital system. Each ambulance is staffed by highly trained personnel specializing in transportation of inpatients. Paramedics are required to maintain a level of training exceeding the national standards established by United States Department of transportation. The expanded scope of practice includes, specialized cath lab training, transport ventilator proficiency, multi-channel IV pumps, as well as a widely expanded knowledge of pharmacologic agents typically used in the critical care setting. All paramedics must maintain current certification in ACLS, PHTLS, PALS and BTLS.
